2 - Coral Castles
The first view that most humans get of the Cetacean Nation is through the "Coral Castles" television special & website: a 'guided tour' of the underwater world of the dolphins, porpoises, orcas and whales. Much of the show is filmed from the deck of a large boat where the drummer talks about his experiences using rhythm to speak with the cetaceans, then demonstrates for the camera. Additional musicians are now able to "speak" with the ocean culture using electric guitars, bass guitars, analog synthesizers and didjeridu. There is also a female Japanese folksinger dressed in black and with hair past her ass, keening and yodelling from the bow. These segments are interspersed with underwater shots filmed by a remote vessel controlled with jovial good nature by a man named Jim who LOVES music
